Is Torriden cruelty-free and vegan?

Torriden states that it is cruelty-free and vegan, but both are the brand's own claims. On its US website the brand writes "Always cruelty-free." and lists "Vegan Certified" with "Formulated without animal-derived ingredients." It does not name a certifier for either, and we did not find a third-party logo such as Leaping Bunny listed by the brand.

This page also covers fragrance, essential oils and sensitive skin, because those are the questions that usually come next. This site does not publish user ratings or run its own tests: we look at ingredients, the brand's information and UK shop prices.

Ingredients on this page come from the brand's US site (torriden.us), checked 19 October 2026. The pack sold in the UK may list them differently, so check the box before you buy.

Cruelty-free: what Torriden actually says

The cruelty-free statement is a single line on the brand's US website: "Always cruelty-free." It is a self-declaration. We did not find a certification body, a certificate number or a logo such as Leaping Bunny attached to it, so we cannot tell you that anyone outside the company has checked it.

How to read a self-declared claim

  • It tells you what the brand says about its own products and approach.
  • It is not the same as a certificate from an independent scheme, which usually publishes a list of approved brands you can look up.
  • If an independent logo matters to you, ask the brand directly or check the scheme's own public list rather than relying on this page.

Torriden is a Korean brand sold in the UK through marketplace sellers and K-beauty shops, and we have not seen it publish a separate statement about the UK. For where it is stocked, see where to buy Torriden in the UK and what it costs.

Is Torriden vegan?

The brand says its products are vegan-certified and "Formulated without animal-derived ingredients." It does not name the certifier, so the wording is best read as the brand's own claim. We have not checked every one of its 48 US products against a vegan standard, and we cannot certify anything ourselves.

What we can and cannot say from the ingredient lists

  • We cannot confirm the vegan claim product by product: ingredient names do not tell you whether something came from a plant, a lab process or an animal source.
  • The US lists show ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, panthenol, ceramides and centella derivatives; the lists do not state their origin.
  • If you follow a strict vegan standard, contact the brand or the UK seller and ask which certificate applies to the exact product and pack you are buying.

One detail from the brand's US catalogue: its text for one sheet mask describes a "vegan microfiber fabric". That describes the sheet material, not the whole range.

Is Torriden fragrance-free?

In the narrow sense, yes: none of the 48 ingredient lists on Torriden's US website contains "Fragrance" or "Parfum". That is not the same as scent-free. Several products contain plant extracts and a few contain essential oils, which can smell and which some people react to.

Scented plant extracts in DIVE IN Soothing Cream

  • Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract
  • Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Extract
  • Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract

These three appear in the US ingredient list of the 100 ml cream; the Jar and Tube versions share one brand page and one list. For more on it, see the DIVE IN Soothing Cream and other Torriden moisturisers.

Safest wording: "no Fragrance or Parfum in the US ingredient list". We cannot say "free of everything that smells", and we cannot say the UK pack is identical.

Essential oils and scent-related ingredients

In the US ingredient lists, essential oils appear in only a few products. If you avoid them, these are the ones to look at; the other products we checked do not list them.

ProductListed in the US ingredient list
DIVE IN Cleansing OilAniba Rosodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Limonene, Linalool
CELLMAZING Brightening AmpouleCitrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil
BALANCEFUL Cleansing GelRosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil
BALANCEFUL Cleansing FoamRosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil

Both Lip Essences (CELLMAZING and SOLID IN) list base oils such as jojoba, olive and macadamia seed oil, not essential oils. For the cleansers in more detail, see Torriden cleansers compared.

UK-only products

  • Glow Mist lists Raspberry Ketone and Rosa Damascena Flower Water, and no ingredient called Fragrance or Parfum (list from Pure Seoul, 50 ml size).
  • Cleansing Milk shows no Fragrance or Parfum in the list we read (Pure Seoul, 200 ml).
  • The Watery Moisture Sun Cream and Watery Sun Serum lists we read from Pure Seoul also show no Fragrance or Parfum.

Is Torriden good for sensitive skin?

Torriden's own pages say so for many products, but only you and your own skin can answer it. The brand uses wording such as "Suitable even for sensitive skin" on pages including the DIVE IN Serum, Toner, Soothing Cream and Cream, and "Perfect for Sensitive skin" on BALANCEFUL Serum. That is marketing language from the brand, not a medical statement.

What the brand cites

  • A "human repeat insult patch test (Non-irritant)", with studies lasting 6 weeks, 50 people aged 20 to 60, according to the brand.
  • No testing institute is named, so we cannot say who ran it or how it was done.
  • The brand also calls BALANCEFUL Serum, Control Serum and Cream, and the FOR MEN product, "Non-Comedogenic": again its own wording.

What to check on the ingredient list

  • Scented plant extracts in Soothing Cream (lavender, clary, chamomile).
  • Essential oils, Limonene and Linalool in the products in the table above.
  • Exfoliating acids: BALANCEFUL Serum and Cream list Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, BALANCEFUL Cleansing Foam lists Salicylic Acid, and BALANCEFUL Peeling Toner lists Betaine Salicylate, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Gluconolactone and Lactic Acid.

A patch test on your own skin before first use is sensible with any new product. If you have eczema, rosacea, acne or a history of reactions, ask your GP, a pharmacist or a dermatologist; this page cannot say a product is safe for those. For that range in full, see the BALANCEFUL centella line.

Retinol, vitamin C and pregnancy

We cannot advise on pregnancy: ask your GP or pharmacist. What we can give you is ingredient facts. In the US range, retinol-group ingredients appear in only the CELLMAZING Firming Eye Cream and the CELLMAZING Firming Discovery Kit.

Ingredient factWhere it appears (US list)
Retinol groupCELLMAZING Firming Eye Cream lists Retinol, Retinyl Palmitate, Retinal and Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate
Peanut oilThe same Eye Cream lists Arachis Hypogaea (Peanut) Oil
Vitamin CCELLMAZING Brightening Ampoule lists 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, among other vitamin C forms
Exfoliating acidsGluconolactone in DIVE IN Multi Pad and Peeling Gel; Capryloyl Salicylic Acid in BALANCEFUL Toner Pad

More on these products is in the CELLMAZING line. In the UK the Brightening Ampoule is sold as "Vita C Brightening Ampoule".

If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, show the full ingredient list to your GP or pharmacist before using the Eye Cream or any acid product. We do not give a yes or no.

How to check your own pack

Because the lists above come from the US site, the quickest way to be sure is to read the box in your hand. Torriden does not publish separate UK or EU formulas, so the UK pack may differ.

  • Find the full ingredient list on the box or the shop's product page and look for Fragrance, Parfum, Linalool and Limonene.
  • Compare it with the US list on the product page at torriden.us.
  • Buy from an established UK retailer: the brand does not publish authenticity codes or a seller list, so we cannot offer a verification method.
  • For sunscreens, read the SPF and PA rating on the pack; see Torriden sunscreens available in the UK.

To see which line suits which need, Torriden's ranges explained by colour and skin type is the place to start.
